Las instalaciones son una forma de tomar un espacio, el cual, mediante diferentes materiales, se ve transformado en una obra de arte que permite a la gente percibir o apreciar ese lugar de otra manera; y Jonathan Borofsky, nacido en 1942, es reconocido, precisamente, por ser un excelente artista de instalaciones./ Installations are a way to take over a space, which, trough different materials is transformed on a work of art that allows people to perceive and appreciate that space on a different way; and Jonathan Borofsky, born in 1942, is renown, precisely for being and excellent installation artist.

Jonathan Borofsky realizó estudios durante el verano en la Ecole de Fontainbleau en Francia, para después estudiar una maestría en Yale School of Art and Architecture./ Jonathan Borofsky made his studies during summer at the Ecole de Fontainbleau in France, to then study a master at Yale School of Art and Architecture.

Desde muy joven, se dedicó a escribir números en hojas de papel y en 1975, se expuso “Counting“en la Galería Paula Cooper de Nueva York. Jonathan Borofsky en vez de firmar su obra, decidió utilizar el número al que llegó después de tantos años de conteo: 2 millones 346 mil 502./ Since very young, he dedicated to write numbers on paper sheets and in 1975, exposed “Counting“ at the Galería Paula Cooper at NYC. Jonathan Borofsky instead of signing his work, decided to use the number that he got after years of counting: 2 million 346 thousand 502.

Entre sus obras destacan ‘The Hammering Man’ (2002), escultura de acero de 18 pies de altura, la cual cuenta con un brazo mecánico que sube y baja, trabajando ocho horas al día. Esta instalación se encuentra de manera permanente en el edificio Heungkuk en Seúl (Corea del Sur), aunque hay diferentes versiones del hombre del martillo  en varias partes del mundo./ Among his work are ‘The Hammering Man’ (2002), an steel sculpture of 18 feet high, that counts with a mechanical arm that moves up and down, working eight hours a day. This installation is found permanently at the  Heungkuk building in Seul (South Corea), even though there are different versions of the hammer man on different parts of the world.

‘Human Structures’ (2008) con una altura de 33 pies, hecha de acero pintado y galvanizado, está compuesta por 62 figuras interconectadas que forman entre ellas 5 torres cilíndricas mostrando al espectador cómo todo está conectado y que “Todo es Uno“. ‘Human Structures’ es otra instalación permanente, sólo que ésta está ubicada en San Francisco, California (EUA)./ ‘Human Structures’ (2008) of 33 feet high, made out of painted and galvanize steel, compose out of 62 interconnected figures that form among them 5 cylindric towers showing the spectator how everything is connected and that “Everything is One”. ‘Human Structures’ is another permanent installation, this one is situated at San Francisco, California (USA).

También podemos nombrar las maravillosa instalación ‘Walking to the Sky’ (2004). Con 100 pies de alto y ubicada en el Nasher Sculpture Center de Dallas, Texas (EUA), esta obra de arte permite ver a una fila de personas trazando su camino hacia el cielo, en una increíble perspectiva./ Is also worth mentioning the wonderful installation ‘Walking to the Sky’ (2004). With 100 feet high situated at the Nasher Sculpture Center de Dallas, Texas (USA), this work shows a line of people walking towards the sky, with  an amazing perspective.
